My vision of the future: Job market© 2007 Serge de Art (Serguei Svistounov)

1. I believe that in the future there will probably be a much better
appreciation of the innate abilities of everyday people. Men and
women, according to Christian and Jewish teaching, are made in the
image of God. Therefore, without being aware of it, everybody must be
a latent genius.
2. In many cases nowadays it is obvious that people are working at
jobs totally inappropriate to their natural talents. Consequently I
would like to see society developing consultants trained to quickly
identify the special talents of their clients of all ages; trained to
guide them into their ideal occupation and to work out the optimum
career plan for each one.
These consultants should be readily accessible and should be provided,
at no cost to the client, by Human Resources and Development Canada
(HRDC). Clients should be made to feel comfortable, right from the
start and should be encouraged to talk freely about their games and
favourite toys as children, about the things they dreamed of, about
their spiritual aspirations and about everything else that is closest
to their heart.
Such penetrating disclosures would enable the expert to make
life-changing recommendations, specific to each client, rather than
the stock prescriptions that are now prevalent.
Say, walking in the street, I would like to drop in a decent place and
to have a talk with a Guru about life, to tell him or her what kind of toys
I played in my childhood, what I dreamed, and about any topic in the world.
As a result of such creative discussion that fascinating person would say
to me someting like the following: You need to do this and that, to work
with a people of such and such kind, and you will see the world
in a different way. Current tests, which I have a pleasure to see,
just give a rough advices.
3. The consultant would then analyze the information provided, and
recommend the most suitable career. If the client appeared to lack
motivation and self-confidence, the consultant would refer the
individual to a life or career coach who would attempt to rectify
the deficiency.
4. PPC, PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL CARD (Multi-media electronic)
Based on the HRDC analysis a card should be produced for every
individual. It should be updated periodically to record change of age,
advances in education, additional work experiences, changes of
interests, aspirations and the like.
Such a card could be scanned immediately by Job Consultants and by
Corporate Human Resources Departments, for comparison with vacancies
current in the general Job Market or in a specific organization. As a
result, the compatibility of managements and staff should be greatly
enhanced.
5. The PPC would therefore supplant the formal resume as the initial
tool in the selection process. Live interviews would continue to be
essential, following the mechanical screening. Because of the prior
matching, interviews might even become pleasurable for all concerned.
6. Human beings are, by nature, inventive, especially when driven by
necessity, and they will struggle to survive and improve themselves.
Society would benefit hugely if this individual inventiveness,or
entrepreneurship, in all ranks, were harnessed so that all people work
together for the common good.
As well the new technologies for a company organization in the near future
promise to be interesting. People want not only living in paradise,
but working as well. And we can create that, if we just stop and think.
7. The future of technical and ethical organization will be the
subject of a subsequent paper. I would like to emphasize now, however,
that people yearn for happy conditions in their jobs as well as in
their private lives. This state of blessedness is within our reach, if
only we apply our minds to it.
It would be fine if everybody will be enterpreneur in the future,
including those who work in and for the company or in a project.
The history of the humankind is the history of individual freedom.
8. It is a case for discussion and consideration what happens in the job
market of Canada today, I mean 80% of jobs are not publicized at all.
Employers prefer to hire familiar people. The process is called
networking in professional language. Therefore, many employers missed
working force while many workers stay without jobs. Thus, we have a new
market for creating new technologies helping them to meet each other.
